adjective / noun

The prayers of those before us watered by meaningful sacrifice, abundant intention and love.

This living heirloom was created out of a need for connection and creation. Our Legacy Record was created for future ancestors to honor those before them and prepare a legacy for the descendants to come, blood or chosen. Each Record was curated to create a personal journey of discovery, healing and joy.  This book is as much a part of the Culture as Collard Greens, Corn Bread & Frankie Beverly + Maze.

What will you leave behind? What is your Love Legacy? Which new traditions will you implement? What's your favorite tradition already in place? You get to craft the life and legacy you choose. You have agency over you and your life. We won't lie, there will be moments in the book's journey where you will have to face antiquated versions of you and those before that no longer align, and that's okay. This journey is yours to own, so...what will you leave behind?

Jenell
Gilyard

owner & creative director

Jenell Gilyard, born of the Brooklyn Gilyards, is a creative kid, who comes from a long line of creative women. Her Great Aunt Ann sowed robes for Sugar Ray Leonard. Her mother always encouraged her to and provided a safe space to show up as big as she wanted to be, and create whatever she wanted to create.

Whether it was getting the garbage bag snorkel Missy Elliot had to recreating Lil Kim’s cut-up bleached pants, there were no limits to her space for creativity. Most  known for what she calls “dropping visual bars”, Jenell carries on her creative legacy as graphic + web designer and is chief goddess and mastermind behind Aud Culture (Aud for Audacious). It is through creativity that Jenell finds sanctuary.

For Jenell, Our Legacy Record is an answer to a deep seeded need for spiritual cultivation and connection to the past as preparation for the future. A lover of fantasy and sci-fi, Jenell’s vision for The Record is for it to be filled, passed down, preserved and shared so that thousands of years from now her descendants will know her name, face and story, and also know that their Super Great Grandmother did this for them. To honor her they must first honor themselves, this legacy and they must see Michael Jackson’s ‘Moonwalk’ and listen to Jay-Z’s ‘Reasonable Doubt’.

I go hard for Black women. I champion for Black women because of the super beings I know them to be no matter what. For the world to treat them the way they do, in the famous words of Ancestor Angelo, and still we rise. Everything they do makes the world go round. They create us, teach us, protect us, guide us and love us even when we don’t love them back. I don’t really care who isn’t giving us flowers. I’m always going to sing their praise! Because of them, we are anointed.

Osha
McCall

Experience Architect, Photographer & Editor

Before curator was a buzzword, Osha Aundrea was an experience-architect. Her speciality? Creating and holding space for Black women. HR professional, podcast Hostess and visual connoisseur, Osha’s desire to share her journey, life hacks and passion for creating inspired her podcast + brand Something About Sunday. Through visual artistry, Osha strings together emotions and moments that need not be forgotten. Experiencing other cultures through travel, listening to her mother’s old records and crafting bespoke cocktails are only a few rituals that she considers self-care. One of her favorite ways to commune was with her Grandmother Cleratha who taught her that luxury wasn’t optional. Her extensive corporate background only elevates her Rich Aunty energy! She’s the go-to.

The Story of Osha Aundrea begins January 12, 1984 in Los Angeles, CA. The best part of the story is still being written.

Honoring what my spirit and heart needs first. Growing up I was responsible for two little ones that received mothering that I didn’t get, but thankfully knew how to give. It took me a long time to understand the necessity of putting myself first. It’s like the airline safety announcement says, “put your oxygen mask on before assisting others” - that’s the journey I’m on. Always in all ways.

Eniafe
Isis

Concept Director & Community Outreach

Eniafebiafe, better known as Eniafe Isis, is a woman breaking into herself. Daughter, sister, auntie and friend, Eniafe’s family legacy is one of art, music and words. Born in Los Angeles, raised , Eniafe spent 13 years in New York City. There she honed her natural talents and gifts, first as trained classical ballerina and then as event producer. It wasn’t until her return to Los Angeles in 2014 that she began pouring into another gift: writer and prosetress (prose + poetry).

As a writer and Founder of ALL HER WORDS, a journey-telling platform dedicated to honoring the voices and experiences of a fuller spectrum of women, Eniafe Isis not only understands the power of words but believes that it is our stories that ultimately become history and the way in which our stories are shared and (re)told depends greatly on how they are recorded and who they are recorded by. Similar to history, it is our culture and heritage that informs us of our origins and instills in us not just who we are but who we have the right to become.
